Evening voluntary work
at Tameside Hospital
Tameside Hospital has a Mobility Scooter service, which
takes patients who are unable to walk to their outpatient appointments on the
hospital site. At present, the service works during 9am to 4pm from Monday to
Friday but we would like to extend it to include evenings in order that
patients who attend evening appointments can also access the service.
Are you interested in working as a scooter volunteer between the hours of 4pm
to 7pm? If so, please contact the Voluntary Services Manager, Mrs Karen Eato
on 0161 331 5335 to discuss or request an application form to do voluntary
work at the hospital. Training is provided.

St James Community Garden – Gardening Event
and volunteers needed!
St James Community Garden is a community project on
Romney Street in Ashton-under-Lyne.
We’ve just started to grow our own vegetables and are looking forward to
planting up the garden this spring with plants donated by Tameside in Bloom.
We’re holding a joint ‘Activity Morning’ with SureStart on Monday 6 April
from 10am – 11.30am.
There will be planting, a raffle and a sunflower competition. Do come
along and join us, bringing gardening tools if you have them.
We are also looking for volunteers to come and help us with gardening. We
would also be interested in hearing from anyone who has carpentry skills who
could help with building some wooden structures.
For more details, please contact Jo Farnworth on 0161 330 4925.
