West African Development (WAD) Football team gets promotion

Football has always been a great interest for West African people. The only toy a child wants is a football. Football is a tradition that can get you fit and healthy and builds a team. By setting an example we are trying to encourage the younger generations in our community to get active.

We are a multicultural team where everyone socialises together. We are planning to organise a community tournament next year which we believe will bring communities together.

WAD played this year in Tameside Soccer Zone for the first time. After a bad start (losing 25-2!) they got better from game to game and ended coming second in their league and have been promoted to the next league.

For more information and to join West African Development football team contact Alade Sanni on 07754 715 849

Everyone is welcome!

Can you help Aladdin?

Aladdin needs help for the pantomime at Hurst Community Centre, she has been looking for two people to help her and needs urgently a choreographer and a costumes manager.

Aladdin, Paige Murray, has spoken to Genie, Andrew Cockrane, to see if he could rub his lamp and rustle up a choreographer and a costume manager but nothing has happened yet.

There are about thirty children and adults in the chorus who need a choreographer to help them with their dance routines and in the Chinese laundry there six machinists who need a manager to organise the costumes to be made and modified.

Anyone interested should contact the Director Lindsey Kingsley on 07963328399 for information on the two jobs. All parts have been cast at the auditions and everyone is now going to rehearsals which are held on Wednesday and Thursday nights at Hurst Community Centre.

Aladdin will be on stage for the pantomime from the 1-6 December. For tickets contact Michelle Wilson on 0799 943 7881.
