World Mental Health Day in Ashton - 'Our
voice, our health, our world'
Friday 10 October, 10am-4pm. Ashton Town Hall
Friday 10 October sees the marking of
World Mental Health Day in Ashton-under-Lyne.
Around 20 local organisations involved in the promotion of mental health
will be gathered together in the Town Hall to introduce visitors to the
many ways they can improve their wellbeing and also address any deeper
issues that may be holding them back or making life difficult. The
wealth of help and activities on offer could be anything from one-to-one
counselling sessions to an art therapy course. The event will be opened
by the Mayor.
The subject of mental health may be a serious one, but the aim of the
day is to meet people and have fun. There is no better route to
contentment and wellbeing than through enjoyment, so you are invited to
come and relax whilst being entertained by drummers, belly dancers and
fabulous live music. There will be complementary hot and cold
refreshments and an opportunity to taste snacks from other cultures.

The
'Really Important Questions' (RIQ) Annual Conference
Tuesday 21 October from 9.30am to 3.30pm at Dukinfield Town Hall
Meet the people who manage social care services in Tameside.
This conference is for anyone aged 50+ interested in local social care
and health services. It is an opportunity to find out about social care
and health services and have a greater say about how these services
should develop. Managers from a wide range of services in the Council,
Health organisations and the voluntary sector will be at the conference
to hear what people need.
This year the conference will focus on the Government’s new vision for
adult social care services. Adult social care services needs to change
in a way that allows older people to have the best possible quality of
life and live full and purposeful lives. What needs to be done to make
this vision a reality? This is an opportunity to take part in discussion
groups and say what you think needs to be done.
The conference is free of charge and lunch and refreshments will be
provided. Access needs can also be arranged. The RIQ conference is very
popular so early booking is essential. Please contact the conference
organisers for a booking form.
