Tameside’s
network
for Chief Officers and
Managers
of voluntary organisations
provides an opportunity for managers and staff in senior positions to

facing similar challenges and gain peer support.
Over the last year approximately 20 different organisations
locally have benefited for VOLCON.

Want to become a Health & Social Care
Champion?
Tameside LINk (Local Involvement Network) is now up and
running and we need YOU to get involved and help us make Tameside’s health and
social care services better for everyone.
The LINk is open to any resident or voluntary and community group in Tameside
and there are loads of ways for you to get involved, from just giving us your
views about the services you receive, to responding to consultations on
services, to getting involved in one of our working groups
or joining the LINk
Board and helping to shape the work the LINk carries out!
The LINk will be holding its
launch event at Hyde Town Hall on Thursday 12 March. There will be a
number of workshops, plus stalls giving health and social care information and
advice and free health checks! There will also be a Health Question Time with
local health and social care professionals taking your questions.
The LINk has real powers which will make it a strong and effective voice for the
local community and the people who run your local services have to listen to
what it says, meaning you really CAN make a difference.
To find out more, to get involved or to register for the launch event,
call 0161 339 4985 or email
tamesidelink@t3sc.org.

Tameside
Green Interest Group's first meeting
The first meeting of a new ‘Green Interest Group’ will
take place from 7pm-9pm on
Tuesday 17 February 2009 in the ‘Billy’ Room at IKEA, 111 Wellington Rd,
Ashton-under-Lyne, OL6 7HS.
A room has kindly been made available free of charge by IKEA.
It is situated near to Ashton Bus and Train Stations
and there are parking facilities at IKEA.
What we will cover?

How often we will meet and what we will cover will
be decided at the initial meetings. Everyone is welcome to
come along and make suggestions and we will take it from there. My
personal view is that we look primarily at Tameside-wide
Earth-Land-Environmental issues, Green and Open Spaces, land use, trees, plants
and wildlife in the Urban Environment. Also Water and Air issues such as
fluoridation and incineration.

Stalybridge Voluntary Twinning Association needs committee members
Stalybridge and Armentières have been twinned since 1953. Thousands of people from Tameside have exchanged visits with people from Armentières.
The Voluntary Twinning Association currently needs the following:
-
A Secretary.
-
A travel coordinator for the annual sports exchange.
-
Publicity officer for various twinning events.
We include the whole of Tameside in all our activities, not just
Stalybridge.

Help Friends of
Copperas Field
create an oasis
Friends of Copperas Field are hoping to transform Copperas Field (an underused field) into a green oasis in Droylsden to be used by the whole community.
'We are a group of volunteers that have banded together to form a committee from people on either side of Copperas Lane Playing Field Droylsden.
The field is situated
between what is known locally as John Street estate and Buxton Lane
estate. We feel that the field is mostly unused. This is a waste and
with funding, determination and a lot of good will we hope to
transform the area into a space that can be utilised in a way that can
benefit the surrounding area.
We aim to try to make the field a safer environment for activities to
suit all ages and the wildlife. We had a 'Fun Day' last year which we
are pleased to say was a success and look forward to having more days
like it in the future.'
